Kajang DUN is one weird shape

Here is an electoral map with Kajang and the surrounding DUNs.

The shape of DUN Kajang is really a weird one. It is only natural that one would suspect this is the result of Gerrymandering.

Maybe someone with better insight on Kajang could enlighten others.

Digitizing Malaysia's Electoral Maps

Inviting concern Malaysian citizens to help complete this task as soon as possible.

Digitizing electoral map simply means converting printed SPR's black and white electoral maps into digital soft copies.

A group of Malaysian citizens are already working on digitizing the current SPR's maps. So far we have completed Selangor's electoral map. Below is the result and you can see an online version at this link Persempadanan/Selangor.

The aim is to make these electronic maps accessible by all for study purpose.

Hopefully when more eyes are looking, we could spot gerrymandering or apportionment problems in Malaysian Electoral maps, and help to correct them and counter propose to SPR.

On this blog, we try to provided information about how we digitize the Selangor electoral maps.

We hope volunteers and concern citizens from other states could use these tools and tutorial to digitized the electoral maps of the own/other states. And help spread the information to others so that we can all learn about how delimitation effect election results and our rights.

Currently SPR have started their delimitation work. If you plan to object to any bias delimitation in SPR's proposal, than working on a printable map in soft copy is an efficient way. It is easier to make changes to the map and print a counter proposal.

Should you have any inquiry about this voluntary project, please contact us using the contact form at the right panel.

We would also appreciate if you could the share the maps you have digitized with us, so that we could make it available for all to study.

Skills requirement: Simple computer knowledge.

Thanks you.
